Windsor's first Community Volunteer Day of the year will be held on Saturday, March 11 from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., and 12 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. This volunteer project will take place outdoors at Kyger Open Space Reservoir located at the northwest corner of Colorado Blvd. and State Hwy. 392. Volunteers will build structures to provide habitat for fish, which are necessary for growth, feeding and successful reproduction. Later this year, the site is slated for additional public improvements, including fishing piers and designated shoreline access, as well as non-motorized boat access.
This family friendly group project is best suited for any service group including children over 8 years old and their parent. Volunteers will need to wear closed toed shoes and clothing that can get dirty. Layers of clothing are recommended in case of inclement weather. Participants must pre-register at https://bit.ly/WCVDSignUp.
The Town of Windsor’s Volunteer Program seeks to provide meaningful volunteer opportunities for its residents. Volunteers can make one-time commitments by working family-friendly events, such as the event on March 11, or serve on a regular basis by joining a VolunTeam.
